On Thursday, StatsCan reports on building permits for October. Economists expect a monthly drop of 5.5%.
As well, the Richard Ivey purchasing managers index for November is posted. A reading of 50 is expected.
On Friday, StatsCan releases its labour force survey for November. Economists expect the unemployment rate to rise to 6.4% from 6.2%; job losses are expected to total 25,000.
U.S. and overseas
On Monday, the U.S. Commerce Department reports on construction spending for October. A drop of 1% is expected.
Separately, the U.S. Institute of Supply Management posts its manufacturing index for November. A reading of 37 is expected.
On Tuesday, the European Union economic and finance ministers meet in Brussels.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Federal Reserve releases its Beige Book survey of U.S. economic conditions.
The Bank of England monetary policy committee holds a two-day meeting.
On Thursday, the U.S. Labour Dept. reports on initial jobless claims for the week ended Nov. 29. Economists forecast 540,000 claims.
Separately, the U.S. Commerce Dept. reports on factory orders in October. A drop of 4.2% is forecast.
The European Central Bank governing council meets and releases its interest rate decision. as does the Bank of England.
On Friday, the U.S. Labour Dept. issues its jobs report. Economists expect the unemployment rate to rise to 6.8% from 6.5%; job losses are expected to total 323,000.
