(March 5 – 11:15 ET) – The Alberta Securities Commission is looking for a new top cop.

The ASC has begun its search for a new Director of Enforcement for its Calgary office. Gary Cornfield was the commission’s previous head of enforcement.

The ASC is accepting resumes from now until March 16. The director of enforcement is responsible for all enforcement activities of the commission including investigations, administrative hearings, prosecutions and appeals before the courts. The department currently includes 27 employees including lawyers, chartered accountants and other professionals.

The ASC says it is looking for, “a self-motivated lawyer with a minimum of 12 years experience in corporate/commercial litigation. Experience in administrative law, criminal procedure and the securities regulatory framework would be preferable.”

It promises, “a compensation package that is competitive with the corporate sector”.
