Savoy Capital Management Ltd. launched the Gladiator Absolute Return Canadian Equity Fund on September 22. The new fund makes Savoy’s active investment style available to a much wider group of investors.

Savoy says the new fund will offer the same expertise in Canadian equity markets and apply the same rigorous investment strategy as the company’s Gladiator L.P. Absolute Return Fund employs. The Gladiator L.P. has provided investors with returns of 26.7% per year over the trailing four year period ended August 31st, 2005.

The new fund’s mandate is to invest primarily in the 500 largest stocks in the TSX, and provide consistent absolute returns regardless of the market environment. Savoy has created the fund for use as a core component of a Canadian equity allocation program.

The new fund is managed by Gene Vollendorf, founder, CEO and Portfolio Manager of Savoy Capital Management Ltd., “It’s exciting to be able to offer the innovative actively managed investment style of our Gladiator L.P to mainstream Canadian investors through this new Fund,” said Vollendorf, in a release.

The fund is 100% RRSP-eligible and the minimum purchase is only $5,000. The Fundserv Code is GLD 200. Savoy reminds investment advisors to check with their corporate policy before placing an order.
