U.S. markets are closed Monday to observe Presidents Day.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Labor Department reports on the consumer price index for January. Economists expect a rise of 0.3% from December, and 4.2% over the previous 12 months.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Commerce Department releases data on housing starts and building permits for January. Economists forecast 1.015 million starts and 1.05 million permits, both annualized.

On Thursday, the U.S. Department of Labour reports on initial jobless claims for the week ended Feb. 16. Economists forecast 345,000 claims, compared with 348,000 the previous week.

The U.S. Conference Board reports on the leading indicators for December. Economists expect a drop of 0.1%.
