On Tuesday, Statistics Canada releases retail sales figures for September. Economists expect a 0.3% increase from the previous month.
On Thursday, Bank of Canada deputy governor Pierre Duguay addresses the Pictou County Chamber of Commerce in Nova Scotia about fostering stability in the financial system.
On Friday, Statistics Canada reports on the current account balance for the third quarter. A surplus of $5.1-billion is expected, down from $6.8-billion in the previous quarter.
Separately, StatsCan releases industrial product and raw material price indexes for October. Economists expect industrial product prices to fall 1.5% from the previous month and raw materials to drop 7%.
U.S. and overseas
On Monday, the U.S. National Association of Realtors releases home-resale data for October. Sales are expected to drop 3.5% to five million on an annualized basis.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Commerce reports on third-quarter gross domestic product. Economists expect an annualized drop of 0.5%.
Separately, Commerce reports on the house price index for September. Economists expect a drop of 0.8% from the previous month.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Conference Board reports on consumer confidence in November. Economists forecast a reading of 38.1, up from 38 in October.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Commerce reports on personal income and spending in October. Economists forecast income will be up 0.1%, ; personal spending is expected to decrease 1%.
Separately, Commerce reports on durable goods orders for October. A 2.6% drop is forecast.
As well, Commerce reports on new-home sales in October. Economists expect a monthly drop of 3% to 440,000 homes, annualized.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Labour Department reports on initial jobless claims for the week ended Nov. 22. Economists forecast 531,000 new claims, down from 542,000 a week earlier.
On Thursday, U.S. financial markets are closed the the Thanksgiving holiday.
Corporate earnings
On Monday, Campbell Soup Co. releases first-quarter results, as does Hewlett-Packard Co.
On Tuesday, Bank of Montreal releases fourth-quarter results.
