(October 28 – 12:00 ET) – Spectra Securities Software Inc., the Toronto-based firm that sells trading solutions for brokers and other wealth management providers, says it is merging with U.S. based UpTick Technologies. Spectra will retain its name.

UpTick has been around since 1991, selling assorted brokerage-related applications. Its product-line will be merged with Spectra’s. It also sees the deal providing larger distribution, deeper talent, and more support for its expanding U.S. operations.

Spectra opened its doors about 10 years ago, led by some Burns Fry refugees. The firm has recently been concentrating its efforts on the U.S. market, and maintains an office in New York as well as Toronto.
