The TSX Venture Exchange has tagged Linda Hohol to be its new president.

“We’re thrilled to have someone with the financial experience, strategic vision and enthusiasm to lead this important division,” said Barbara Stymiest, CEO of the Toronto Stock Exchange.

“Her leadership will be an asset in helping us build and expand the venture market across Canada,” Symiest added.

As president of the TSX Venture Exchange, Hohol will lead the day-to-day operation of Canada’s public venture capital marketplace. The exchanges companies are active in the mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, technology, biotechnology, financial services and other sectors.

In reacting to her appointment Hohol said, “I’m absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to participate in building the TSX Venture Exchange across Canada. This is a wonderful
opportunity to work alongside Barbara Stymiest — a person who is absolutely committed to the junior market and its importance in Canada. Small businesses eventually become big businesses and we at the TSX Venture Exchange have to facilitate that.”

A resident of Calgary, Hohol has been active recently on a number of local boards serving as a director of the Calgary Airport Authority, co-chair, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology – Capital Campaign, member of the Power Pool of Alberta Council and chair, Balancing Pool Committee and director of the Calgary Olympic Development Association.

Until 1999, Hohol was executive vice president, Wealth Management with CIBC where she was responsible for all wealth management activities, investment performance and product development. She also worked with the President to restructure CIBC’s Wealth Management Division to support new strategic direction.

Hohol begins with the TSX Venture Exchange on April 29.
