(July 31 – 15:30 ET) – The push toward a global securities market continues today as officials from Nasdaq host representatives from 10 Middle-Eastern stock exchanges.
The two-day meeting begins today. The talks are being held in New York and Connecticut with senior executives from each of the Bahrain Stock Exchange, Cairo & Alexandria Stock Exchange, Athens Stock Exchange, Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange, Amman Stock Exchange, Kuwait Stock Market, Palestine Securities Exchange, Capital Markets Board of Turkey, Istanbul Stock Exchange, and Dubai Stock Exchange.
“We are here to share information and learn about the practices and strengths of each other’s markets. At this stage, our discussions are completely exploratory, with no commitment or specific plans for any shared efforts. Having said this, our discussions today have been very positive, and we have agreed to evaluate various opportunities and challenges and meet again in the spring of next year,” said Frank Zarb, chairman and CEO of Nasdaq.
