Dwight Duncan is returning to the position of minister of finance for Ontario.
Last week, Greg Sorbara, the outgoing finance minister, withdrew his name from consideration for a cabinet post, ostensibly to spend more time with his family. He was expected to be reappointed to the ginance post.
Instead, Duncan, who was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 1995, is taking the role. He previously served as minister of energy and chair of cabinet, minister of finance and chair of management board of cabinet, as well as government house leader.
Gerry Phillips becomes minister of energy. Phillips had been minister of government and consumer services, where he oversaw the Ontario Securities Commission, and championed a single national securities regulator.
Ted McMeekin is taking over Phillips’ old cabinet post.
