(January 28 – 16:10 ET) – The light trading volume on the CDNX this morning wasn’t a mirage. But it wasn’t for real. Computer glitches, not sleepy traders slowed trading.

Pam Whitworth, communications director at the CDNX, says that computer gremlins brought trading shortly after the open due to “software related problems, which resulted in inconsistent order-entry.”

The CDNX opens for trading at 09:30 ET in tandem with the East Coast markets. Trading remained halted until the market was re-opened at 13:00 ET. Since then the small cap traders have made up for lost time, piling into the market in a furious trade that has nonetheless kept the CDNX index up eight points on the day.
