Canadian employers expect to be hiring in droves this fall, according to Manpower survey results released today.

According to the latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey, which polled more than 1,700 Canadian employers, 26% plan to boost their payrolls while only 10% foresee staff cuts in the fourth quarter.

Of those surveyed, 60% expect no change in staffing and 4% said their hiring plans were uncertain.

Adjusting for seasonal variations, the Net Employment Outlook of 20% is a 2% rose from the prior quarter.

“This quarter’s seasonally adjusted and raw Net Employment Outlooks are the strongest projected fourth quarter results since 2001,” said Lori Procher, spokeswoman for Manpower Canada. “These are encouraging results for a quarter that usually features a more restrictive hiring climate.”

Regionally, a favourable hiring climate is expected for both Atlantic Canada and Western Canada, while Ontario and Quebec employers also anticipate a steady hiring climate.

Of the 10 surveyed sectors, mining companies and construction firms plan to most job increases.
