Pier 21 Asset Management Inc. has entered into an exclusive relationship with Linde Partners Asset Management SA of Luxembourg, to sub-advise its Global Value and Japanese equity strategies, which are now available to Canadian institutional investors.

Linde Partners is a specialized investment boutique that embraces a disciplined value, absolute return philosophy. The firm has successfully employed its risk-controlled, benchmark-agnostic investment process in its global strategies since 1998, never recording a negative return in a single calendar year, and achieving top quartile and top decile rankings, when compared to Canada’s universe of global equity strategies.

“At Pier 21 Asset Management, our commitment is to improve the access and choice that Canadian institutional investors have to skilled investment managers that are based beyond our borders, and are not otherwise available in Canada,” says David Star, president and CEO of Pier 21. “Linde Partners perfectly exemplifies the opportunities Canadian institutions are missing by restricting their global and international investments to investment managers based in close proximity to Canada.”

The global value strategy that Linde Partners employs is the singular focus of their firm. It is mirrored in all the related strategies, including an ADR strategy and a concentrated strategy as well.

“We are particularly pleased to offer a global ADR version of this strategy for the fast-growing wealth management WRAP market, and we also believe that this type of product will be attractive to a certain segment of institutional plan sponsors focused on efficient execution and cost containment,” says Star.

“We are delighted to be working exclusively with Pier 21 Asset Management and its unique business model in Canada,” says Jesper Alsing, managing director and CEO of Linde Partners. “Our approach is simple and methodical, and we believe that Canadian institutional investors, like their European counterparts, can benefit from consistent absolute returns.”

Pier 21 currently offers 15 global and international products in a variety of asset classes.
