Alternative investment firm Paradigm Asset Management Inc. of Toronto has completed its acquisition of Portus Investment Inc., a Montreal-based firm specializing in portfolio risk management.

According to Paradigm, this acquisition is an important step towards becoming the national leader in the alternative investment marketplace. Portus gives the firm with an entry point into Quebec.

Paradigm also says it will be adopting the Portus name. In Latin Portus meanins “safe harbour”. The company says the new name strongly reflects both its business model and the low risk nature of its investment offerings.

Paradigm will adopt the Portus name effective immediately for its operations across the country.
