Mackenzie Financial Services Inc. announced Monday the immediate availability of its newest fund: Mackenzie Cundill American Capital Class. The fund invests primarily in mid- and large-capitalization U.S. companies.

Management of the fund is led by Peter Cundill, with co-manager Lawrence Chin. Cundill has a global reputation as a premier mutual fund manager, and is frequently heralded as one of Canada’s foremost value investors.

“Peter Cundill is well-known for his global and Canadian value investing mandates with Mackenzie, but he forged his reputation on his success in the U.S. market through the late 1970s and 1980s,” said David Feather, president of Mackenzie Financial Services Inc., in a news release “Mackenzie Cundill American Capital Class will appeal to Canadian investors looking for a fundamental value approach to the U.S. market. It is a great way to get in on attractively valued securities south of the border.”

“U.S. stocks have declined substantially from their highs in 2000,” said Peter Cundill, lead manager of Mackenzie Cundill American Capital Class. “Value opportunities have been hitting our screens. In the past, we have done relatively well in these environments, and we expect to do the same with this fund.”

With the addition of the Cundill-managed U.S. value fund, Mackenzie now boasts a robust line of U.S. funds covering the spectrum of value, blend, and growth styles.

Subadvisors Waddell & Reed, Inc. of Kansas City, as well as Toronto’s Bluewater Investment Management Ltd., offer investors some of the world’s best U.S. management talent through funds in Mackenzie’s Universal fund family.

Mackenzie’s fund lineup also includes Mackenzie Universal Select Managers USA Capital Class, managed by five top U.S.-based subadvisors each with unique investment disciplines.
