Toronto-based IA Clarington Investments Inc. will be added as sub-advisor to the IA Clarington Canadian Conservative Equity Fund, with Terry Thib acting as a portfolio manager, the company announced on Friday.

Thib will work alongside current Toronto-based sub-advisor Leon Frazer & Associates Inc. on the fund.

The Leon Frazer investment team, led by Doug Kee, who guides investment strategy for the firm, will continue its sub-advisory role with the fund, acting to ensure that the long-standing principles that are a hallmark of the firm continue to remain at the forefront of their investment approach.

“We see this as an opportunity to enhance and broaden what is already a well-established offering for yield-oriented investors in Canada. Terry’s investment experience will bring added diversity that is essential to maintaining a conservative return profile for the fund in a period of heightened volatility,” says Carl Mustos, president of IA Clarington Investments, in a statement.

With experience and a background in U.S. and Canadian equities, Thib complements the disciplined, yield-oriented, value approach that Leon Frazer has held at the core of its investment philosophy for more than 75 years.

In addition to his role working alongside Leon Frazer on the fund, Thib will continue to lead the management of IA Clarington North American Opportunities Class and IA Clarington Growth & Income Fund.

Thib joined the iA Clarington investment management team as a portfolio manager and vice president, Investments in 2014. He has more than 10 years of investment experience and was selected as a TopGun Investment Mind by Brendan Wood International in 2012, 2014 and 2015. He is a CFA charterholder with an MBA from the Schulich School of Business. He also holds a MESc from Western University, and is a professional engineer.
