(February 27 – 17:30 ET) – In a move designed to increase the efficiency of its financial reporting for investors and advisors, Fidelity Investments Canada Ltd. has changed the fiscal year end for its international funds.
The company’s board approved the change from the current June 30 year end to a February 28 year end, and notice has been filed with the appropriate regulators.
The change takes effect immediately with the release of February 28, 2001 audited statements. Fidelity says the existing March 31 year end remains in place for all Fidelity Focus funds, and June 30 year end will remain in place for all other Fidelity funds.
The fund company says the move to spread financial reporting across the calendar year is consistent with its commitment in 2000 to make financial information on its funds more conveniently accessible. Separate year-end and semiannual reports are now available for each Fidelity fund, and can be accessed online at fidelity.ca.
This change in year-end applies to:
- Fidelity Emerging Markets Portfolio Fund;
- Fidelity European Growth Fund;
- Fidelity RSP European Growth Fund;
- Fidelity Far East Fund;
- Fidelity RSP Far East Fund;
- Fidelity Global Asset Allocation Fund;
- Fidelity RSP Global Asset Allocation Fund;
- Fidelity International Portfolio Fund;
- Fidelity RSP International Portfolio Fund;
- Fidelity Japanese Growth Fund;
- Fidelity RSP Japanese Growth Fund;
- Fidelity Latin America Growth Fund;
- Fidelity Overseas Fund; and
- Fidelity RSP Overseas Fund.
This change in fiscal year ends does not affect the date of any payment of distributions that may be made by these funds. Distributions are currently made in late December of each year.
