Mackenzie Financial Corp. received three awards at the Annual Canadian Mutual Fund Awards Gala last night in Toronto.

Peter Cundill, of Mackenzie’s Cundill family of funds, received Analysts’ Choice Career Achievement Award. Mackenzie also received Investor’s Choice Fund Company of the Year, and the Imagine Corporate Citizenship Award.

“These awards are a testament to the work and commitment of the team we’ve created at Mackenzie,” said Phil Cunningham, president, Mackenzie Financial Services Inc

Mackenzie fund manager, Peter Cundill, also president and founder of Cundill Investment Research Ltd. based in Vancouver, received the Analysts’ Choice Career Achievement Award. The award recognizes Cundill’s proven superior performance and his outstanding lifetime contribution to the financial community, as determined by a panel of third-party industry analysts.

“Peter is highly deserving of this award,” said Cunningham. “He is a consummate professional and extremely gifted investment manager, and we’re pleased to call him a colleague.”

Cundill, a contrarian investor and an advocate of Benjamin Graham’s value approach in Canada since 1973, has applied his personal brand of investment management for the last forty years. Montreal-born, Cundill now operates out of London, U.K. and spends over 200 days a year travelling in order to search out value opportunities for Mackenzie funds.
