BMO Investments Inc. has announced changes to its mutual fund lineup.

BMO LifeStage Plus 2015 (BMO LSP 2015) Fund is approaching its maturity date on June 30. Upon maturity, BMO LSP 2015 will be merged into BMO Money Market Fund on a tax-deferred basis, effective after the close of business on or about July 3. Security holders of BMO LSP 2015 will receive securities of BMO Money Market Fund, determined on a dollar-for-dollar basis, and the BMO LSP 2015 will be wound up as soon as possible following the merger.

BMO Investments also announced that certain series of funds would be capped and not offered for sale to new or existing investors. This is effective after the close of business on April 10.

Capped series include Series H of the following:

  • BMO Asian Growth and Income Class
  • BMO Canadian Equity Class
  • BMO Dividend Class
  • BMO Global Dividend Class
  • BMO Short-Term Income Class
  • BMO SelectClass Income Portfolio
  • BMO SelectClass Balanced Portfolio
  • BMO SelectClass Growth Portfolio
  • BMO SelectClass Equity Growth Portfolio

Series NBF of the following funds will also be capped:

  • BMO Asset Allocation Fund
  • BMO FundSelect Balanced Portfolio
  • BMO FundSelect Growth Portfolio
  • BMO FundSelect Equity Growth Portfolio

The risk ratings of some funds will also be changed and are effective immediately to better align with these funds’ risk levels. BMO Canadian Tactical ETF Class and BMO Global Tactical ETF Class will now be considered “low to medium” and not “medium.” BMO Global Dividend Fund and BMO Global Dividend Class now hold a “medium” risk rating as opposed to “low to medium.” BMO Global Energy Class holds a “high” risk rating and not “medium to high.”

These new risk ratings are not as a result of any changes to the investment objectives, strategies or portfolio management of these mandates, according to BMO Investments.

The firm has also announced a change to the investment strategy of the BMO Enhanced Equity Income Fund, which will give the fund the ability to implement put options in order to provide the fund more opportunities to generate additional income.
