(May 30 – 11:45 ET) – Barclays Global Investors Canada Limited has filed preliminary prospectuses across Canada for four new exchange-traded funds. They are: iUnits Government of Canada 5 Year Bond Fund; iUnits Government of Canada 10 Year Bond Fund; iUnits S&P 500 Index RSP Fund; and iUnits International Equity Index RSP Fund.
“The addition of this group of iUnits funds to our current i60 Fund will provide investors with the opportunity to apply asset allocation strategies to build complete and balanced portfolios based on the iUnits family of funds. Investors will be able to select among a number of asset classes: fixed income, Canadian large cap equities, U.S. and international equities,” said Gerry Rocchi, BGI Canada president.
The S&P 500 Index RSP fund replicates the performance of the Standard and Poors’ 500 composite index. The International Equity Index RSP fund replicates the Morgan Stanley EAFE Index. Both funds are 100% eligible for registered plans.
The fixed income funds replicate the returns of 5-year and 10-year Government of Canada bonds.
The new funds will join the existing S&P/TSE 60 Index Participation fund to form a family of exchange traded funds.
