AGF Investments Inc. announced on Monday that Peter J. Frost has joined the firm as vice-president and portfolio manager and will assume lead responsibility for the AGF Canadian Balanced Value Fund, pending regulatory approval.

“The addition of Peter to the Canadian equity team brings a complementary value style to the AGF Investments group and the domestic line-up of funds, strengthening our overall investment management capabilities,” said chief investment officer Martin Hubbes.

“AGF Investments is committed to delivering investment management excellence across a wide spectrum of investment styles, asset classes and geographies,” added Hubbes. “Peter brings a strong professional pension-style approach to fund management that we believe will be well received by our clients.”

Frost has 17 years of industry experience, including six years in pension consulting, two years at a large, bank-owned wealth management firm, and the past nine years as a portfolio manager at a Canadian money management firm. In his most recent position, he was the lead manager of a growing income pooled fund and was part of the team managing both a balanced and an equities fund.

Frost is an expert in the Canadian equities market with a strong understanding and appreciation of the different investment strategies and asset classes. In addition, his experience includes exposure to the U.S. and fixed income markets, resulting in a deep philosophical belief in traditional value-based investing. He earned his MBA from the University of Dallas and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
