(November 13 – 12:20 ET) – Acuity Funds Ltd. is introducing two new socially responsible mutual funds: the Acuity Social Values Canadian Equity Fund and the Acuity Social Values Global Equity Fund.
Acuity says both funds provide the opportunity for individuals to invest in mutual funds that consist of companies with progressive workplace, environmental, or human rights practices and avoid investing in companies that draw a major source of their revenue from nuclear power, weapons, alcohol or tobacco.
“Acuity is proud to bring socially responsible investments to Canadian investors and thereby provide opportunities to satisfy both their financial goals and social values,” said Ian Ihnatowycz, president and CEO of Acuity Funds Ltd. “At the same time we are certainly pleased to work with two of the most reputable socially responsible investment authorities in Michael Jantzi Research Associates and Calvert Group.”
The Acuity Social Values Canadian Equity Fund seeks to achieve long-term capital growth by investing in a diversified portfolio of large-sized Canadian companies. The sub-advisor for the fund is Michael Jantzi Research Associates Inc. (MJRA), which monitors and reports on the environmental, labour and social performance of Canadian corporations.
Founded in 1992 by one of the country’s foremost social investment experts, MJRA provides a full range of social investment research and support services to the portfolio advisors who integrate social and environmental criteria into their investment decisions.
The Acuity Social Values Global Equity Fund seeks to achieve long-term capital growth by investing in a globally diversified portfolio of large-sized companies. The sub-advisor for the fund is the Calvert Group, a recognized leader in socially responsible investing.
Calvert Group offers the largest family of socially responsible mutual funds in the United States. Calvert Group will identify companies that meet the fund’s social criteria. This includes specialists in international human rights, indigenous peoples’ rights, labor, the environment and defense issues, as well as community banking practices.
