Toronto-based Watt Carmichael Inc. has hired former HSBC Securities Inc. executive Martin Sims as president and chief operating office, the company said Tuesday.
Sims spent seven years at HSBC where he helped grow their full service investment advisory business from $5 billion to $14.5 billion in assets. He successfully led the firm through the 2008 financial crisis as executive vice president & national director and head of HSBC’s private client group before leaving in 2010 prior to the firm being sold to National Bank Financial.
Sims has over 20 years of financial services experience in various roles. with Midland Walwyn, Merrill Lynch, Charles Schwab, Thomson Kernaghan, HSBC and Accretive Advisor.
