Former financial industry executive Connie Roveto has been tapped to chair the Canada Revenue Agency’s Board of Management.
John McCallum, Minister of National Revenue, announced the proposed appointment today. The nomination will be referred to the Standing Committee on Finance for review. The Standing Committee will have up to 30 sitting days to review it.
“I am pleased to recommend Connie Roveto as the Chair of the Canada Revenue Agency’s Board of Management. Ms. Roveto brings with her a wealth of leadership and management experience from both the financial and corporate management sectors”, said McCallum.
Currently, Roveto is president of Cirenity Management where she provides consulting services in strategy, product and service development. She also served as president and chief operating officer of investment firm Elliott & Page Ltd., COO of the Trust Co. of Bank of Montreal, and president and CEO of United Financial Management Ltd.
While the Minister of National Revenue retains full accountability for all CRA activities, the Board of Management is responsible for overseeing the organization and administration of the agency and the management of its resources, services, property, personnel and contracts.
The board is composed of 15 members, 11 of whom are nominated by the provinces and territories, all are appointed by the Governor in Council.
