The rebuilding of Morgan Stanley continues, with the firm announcing that it has hired a new head of global operations and technology.
Effective October 21, Eileen Murray will join Morgan Stanley from a similar position at Credit Suisse First Boston, which is also the former home of Morgan Stanley’s new CEO, John Mack.
Murray will be a member of the management committee at Morgan Stanley, where she will supervise the firm’s worldwide operations and information technology needs. She will report directly to Mack.
Murray joined CSFB in 2002 as head of global technology, operations and product control and managed over 7,000 professionals. She was the first woman to serve on CSFB’s executive board. Prior to that, she spent 18 years at Morgan Stanley, when she left she was chief administrative officer of its Institutional Securities Group.
Mack said, “Eileen Murray is an innovative, experienced leader with a proven ability to build strong teams and leverage technology to provide global financial services firms with a competitive advantage. She also is a leader of the highest integrity and one committed to the professional development of her colleagues. Her technical knowledge and diverse experience are particularly important in the current industry environment, which is driven by ever-more complex financial products and dramatically growing trading volumes, which require increased efficiency and effective risk management.”
