Christine Girvan has joined MFS Institutional Advisors, Inc., to beef up its presence in the Canadian market, the firm announced Tuesday.
As a managing director, Girvan will oversee sales in the Canadian market for MFS Institutional Advisors, Inc., the institutional asset management subsidiary of MFS Investment Management. She comes from Fortis Investment Management Canada Ltd. where she was CEO, and was responsible for business development and client servicing, as well as strategy, for the Canadian office.
Prior to joining Fortis, Girvan was with Guardian Capital, Inc., and previously she was a portfolio manager for Credit Lyonnais Asset Management of France.
“Canada is a growing market for MFSI and Christine brings an extraordinary depth of knowledge of this market to MFS,” said Carol Geremia, president of MFSI. “She has previously advised clients and run a local division of another major investment organization in Canada, and we fully envision her playing a key leadership role in further enhancing MFSI’s presence in this important market.”
The firm says that Girvan’s hiring is the latest in a series of hirings designed to bolster its business development and client service capabilities.
