Federal finance minister Jim Flaherty Monday announced the appointment of Angela Tu Weissenberger to the board of directors of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corp. (CDIC).

“I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Tu Weissenberger to the board of CDIC,” Flaherty said in a release. “With her extensive professional experience in the financial sector, she is an ideal choice for an organization that is essential to a strong financial system in Canada.”

Tu Weissenberger is a senior economics professional and founder of ATM Associates, Inc. She has significant experience as an advisor for the financial services industry, as well as in-depth experience working with the energy industry.

CDIC is a federal Crown corporation established in 1967 to provide deposit insurance against the loss, in whole or in part, of deposits with banks, trust companies and loan companies in the event of their failure.
