Financial services firm Edward Jones says it has appointed partner David Lane to head its Canadian operations.

The St. Louis, Mo.-based investment dealer and money manager said Thursday that Lane will replace Gary Reamey, who has headed the Canadian division for 17 years.

Reamey plans to retire at the end of the year.

Lane, 47, came to the Canadian division last year and was responsible for financial adviser recruiting, training and branch development.

“We owe Gary tremendous gratitude for his 18 years of leadership and the hard work he has invested into our international expansion,” says Jim Weddle, Edward Jones managing partner. “At the same time, David brings a wealth of experience to his new position and I’m confident he will continue our success in bringing exceptional service to even more clients in Canada.”

After a successful career as a financial advisor in the U.S., Reamey, 56, moved to St. Louis in 1989 and was responsible for the U.S. fixed income and equity trading areas. In 1994, he spearheaded the firm’s international expansion efforts when he was named leader of the Canada operations, Edward Jones’ first venture outside the U.S.

Edward Jones Canada, based in the Toronto area, operates 600 offices across the country and employs about 1,500 people.
