MF Global Ltd. announced that it has appointed Bernard Dan as chief operating officer of the company’s North American businesses.

Dan will assume responsibility for technology and operations including the control environment and overall administration for all MF Global’s North American operating entities. He will also join the company’s global executive management committee.

Prior to joining MF Global Dan headed the Chicago Board of Trade where he served as president and CEO from November 2002 until July 2007 upon completion of the merger with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Prior to joining the CBOT in 2001, he was president and CEO of Cargill Investor Services, Inc.
