Barclays Global Investors, N.A. (BGI) today announced the listing of the iShares COMEX Gold Trust on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker IGT. The trust was launched in the U.S. on Jan. 21, 2005.

The trust is intended to provide investors with a simple and cost-effective means of making an investment similar to an investment in gold. The securities of the trust will trade on the TSX in Canadian dollars and are expected to reflect, at any given time, the price of the gold owned by the trust, less the Trust’s expenses and liabilities.

Barclays Global Investors, N.A. is the trust’s sponsor. The Bank of New York is named as the trustee. The Bank of Nova Scotia is the custodian.

Barclays Global Investors Canada Ltd. is the trustee of the 12 iUnits exchange traded funds which also trade on the TSX.

“We are delighted that our affiliate, Barclays Global Investors N.A. has listed the iShares COMEX Gold Trust on the TSX. This expands BGI’s offerings of exchange traded funds available on the TSX and reinforces our objective of providing a wide range of investment solutions for Canadian investors,” said Rajiv Silgardo, CEO of Barclays Canada, in a release.
