(September 7 – 11:45 ET) – Manulife Financial officially unveiled two major projects in Kitchener and Waterloo today and announced it will rename an office complex in downtown Kitchener “Manulife Square.”

The announcement marks the move of 300 staff to downtown Kitchener plus more than $17 million in renovations, equipment and furnishings at Manulife Square. At the same time, Manulife also officially unveiled newly renovated offices today in Waterloo for Manulife Bank and Manulife one, showcasing the first phase of an entire renovation for its Canadian division head office in Waterloo.

“We’re extremely enthused about our latest investments in Kitchener-Waterloo,” Trevor Matthews, Manulife executive vice president of Canadian operations, told staff during official ceremonies at both offices today.

More than 300 staff from Manulife’s Canadian Pension Operations began moving in mid-August to Manulife Square where they now occupy a large area that was formerly a major retail store.

Manulife employs more than 3,400 people in Kitchener-Waterloo, including about 1,300 now working in downtown Kitchener at two separate locations.
