UnumProvident has announced enhancements to the BestDoctors HRT service which accompanies their critical illness products.

According to the company, these enhancements will offer a more comprehensive, value-added service to assist their critical illness policyholders with finding and accessing the finest and most appropriate medical care throughout Canada and the world.

“These enhancements strengthen UnumProvident’s commitment to provide our critical illness policyholders with more than just a claim cheque,” said John MacIntosh, assistant vice president of Product Development. “We started this commitment in October of 2000 after realizing that our clients need more than just money to cope with a critical illness. HRT’s purchase of BestDoctors gave us a great opportunity to take this service to the next level,” MacIntosh added. “With the expanded services, our policyholders can now have their choice as to whether they would prefer to find and access medical care locally or internationally.”

Policyholders will be granted one usage of BestDoctors HRT service at no cost — regardless of whether their condition results in a critical illness claim. Beyond that, policyholders and their dependants (under the age of 21) will be granted attractive discounts for additional unlimited usage.
