Liquidnet Inc. announced that UBS and Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. LLC have joined its list of Streaming Liquidity Partners.

The firm says that order flow from both UBS and Sanford Bernstein will now be able to interact with Liquidnet’s institutional liquidity via Liquidnet H2O. SLP orders are marketable agency orders that are electronically routed by a smart router, with no direction or knowledge from human traders.

Liquidnet H2O brings together the collective equity volume of more than a dozen third-party liquidity sources to execute against institutional-sized order flow. Executions occur at the mid-point of the National Best Bid and Offer, thereby eliminating pricing pressure in the marketplace. “The result is price improvement and reduced market impact costs delivered to all participants,” it says.

In addition to Sanford Bernstein and UBS, Liquidnet’s SLPs include: Bloomberg Tradebook, BNY Brokerage, Instinet, Piper Jaffray, EdgeTrade, UNX, Goldman Sachs Execution & Clearing, L.P., Credit Suisse, Jefferies, JPMorgan and Lehman Brothers.

“With more than one billion shares a day of order flow, Liquidnet H2O is one of the fastest-growing liquidity pools in the industry,” said Seth Merrin, Liquidnet CEO. “We are extremely pleased that Sanford Bernstein and UBS are joining our efforts to bring together the entire institutional equities market in a single venue.”

“Our goal is to provide the maximum level of liquidity and quality execution for clients,” said Will Sterling, head of electronic trading at UBS. “The partnership with Liquidnet will allow us to give clients increased capacity to interact with multiple and diverse liquidity venues. We are excited to add H2O as a complement to our own natural liquidity.”

David Liles, global head of electronic trading at Sanford Bernstein added, “We are pleased to be able to provide our clients with access to a significant pool of liquidity provided by the Liquidnet user community. This further enhances the strength of Bernstein’s agency-only algorithmic offering.”
