(May 4 – 09:45 ET) – TD Securities Inc.’s New York-based high yield group is bolstering its leveraged finance media/telecom/technology team.
Earlier this year it added Michael Brennan as managing director and head of European High Yield sales and trading from Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown. It has also added Chris Majak from PaineWebber, William Attard from Bankers Trust/Deutsche Bank and Michael Walker from DLJ.
Rod Ashtaryeh, managing director in the New York office will move to London to head the London-based leveraged finance group. David Sharp and Daniel DeAlmeida from New York and Toronto respectively will be moving there, too. And Phil Armstrong, TDSI’s high yield research analyst covering European telecom issuers, will be relocating from New York to London.
In addition, it has another $500 million to work with. Marc Michel, managing director and head of TD Capital in New York says, “This allocation of new capital will enable us to build on the already significant portfolio of global private equity investments made by TD Capital, which as of the end of the first quarter totals in excess of $1 billion.”
Michel is also expanding TD Capital’s London office, adding Jose Brena from GE Capital’s telecom group, Douglas Rediker from Lehman Brothers telecommunications team in London, and Kristen Rosenbaum from TD Capital’s New York-based group.
“We view this European expansion as a natural extension of our banking and investing expertise in the media/telecom/technology sectors and it is of strategic importance to TD Securities,” said Donald Wright, chairman and CEO TD Securities Inc. “We are increasing the capital, professional resources, and expertise necessary to become a major player in the European market.”
