(April 19 – 09:45 ET) – Microsoft and TD Waterhouse have announced plans for a strategic development relationship to offer wireless online investing to TD Waterhouse’s U.S. customers.

TD Waterhouse is the first broker to join Microsoft in this initiative, and will be handing out thousands of free devices in the third quarter to promote its efforts. Clients will be able to access account information, view news and quotes and trade from the device.

A Canadian firm, 724 Solutions Inc. created the Financial Services Platform on the new pocket-sized computers, built by Hewlett Packard, Compaq and Casio. “724 Solutions brings together the key components – the technology, the applications and the partners – needed to deliver secure financial services on a broad variety of Internet-enabled devices. Today’s demonstration illustrates how 724 Solutions is ensuring its solution is enabled on the latest devices, “Greg Wolfond, chief executive officer at 724 Solutions said in a press release.
