TD Waterhouse Group, Inc. is reporting decreased trades and a drop in assets for January. On the other hand, the firm’s number are increasing on a December to January basis.
Total trades in January averaged 115,000 per day. That’s a 2% decrease from Dec. 2001, and 24% lower than Jan. 2001.
Total customer assets were $139 billion as of January 31, 2002, a 1% increase from December 2001. But it is 10% lower than January 2001.
New accounts opened in January totaled 42,300. That’s a 14% increase from Dec. 2001 but 20% lower than Jan. 2001.
Margin loans were $3.9 billion at Jan. 31, 2002. This compares to $3.8 billion a month earlier and is a decrease of 37% from Jan. 31, 2001.
In the early part of February 2002, trade per day activity showed an increase of approximately 4%.
