(January 17 – 13:15 ET) – Having received all necessary regulatory approvals, TD Bank Financial Group announced today that TD Securities has completed its acquisition of Newcrest Capital Inc.

According to TD, the transaction, which was initially announced on Nov. 7, 2000, combines the strengths of Newcrest, as Canada’s leading independent investment banking and institutional equities firm, with the global capabilities of TD Securities, the wholesale side of TD Bank Financial Group.

As a result of the acquisition, TD Securities’ institutional equities business operates under the name TD Newcrest.
