TD Bank Financial Group, together with TD Securities and TD Waterhouse, today announced a US$500,000 donation to the American Red Cross and The September 11th Fund.

The donation is being made on behalf of all TD employees worldwide, including the 425 TD Securities employees and the more than 2,000 TD Waterhouse employees in the New York City area.

The American Red Cross is assisting with blood donor clinics and blood distribution to hospitals, mobilizing volunteers and providing food and shelters for rescue workers and stranded travelers. The September 11th Fund was created by the United Way and the New York Community Trust to support programs assisting individuals and families who have been affected by the U.S. tragedy.

“On behalf of all employees, I want to extend my heart-felt sympathies to everyone touched by these terrible circumstances. Steve McDonald, CEO of TD Waterhouse Group Inc., Donald Wright, chairman and CEO of TD Securities and I sincerely hope that, in some small way, this donation will help in the aftermath of these appalling events,” said TD Bank Financial Group chairman and CEO Charles Baillie.

“Many TD people have been affected in some way, either directly or indirectly. In the coming weeks I know employees both in New York and around the world will be looking for additional ways to lend further assistance to those in need,” added Baillie.

Employees will also be provided with information to facilitate individual giving. Additionally, TD Canada Trust’s branches in Canada will be joining with other banks to collect donations for the Canadian Red Cross’s U.S.A. appeal.
