(March 30 – 14:15 ET) – TD Securities, has successfully completed the syndication of the first loan marketed through the Internet. TD Securities leveraged the Internet to market its $1.2 billion senior secured credit facilities for Rural Cellular Corporation, a U.S. wireless communications company.
TD Securities used NetRoadshow.com to serve as the conduit between Rural Cellular Corporation and the senior loan investor universe. Prospective investors were sent details on how to access the site with a password and ID, and were able to view an audio and slide presentation in a secure online environment. The presentation format enabled viewers to repeat or fast-forward each audio and video portion with simple commands.
TD Securities’ use of the Internet as the primary tool to sell the deal represents an innovative alternative to the investor meetings typically employed by securities firms to garner interest from institutional and bank lenders. Use of the Internet as a medium for marketing translates to savings for the issuer, and a faster execution of the deal.
“We think this deal is representative of our key strengths – proven expertise in the media and telecom sector, and leadership in e-commerce thinking,” says Amy Miller, Managing Director and Group Head, Global Loan Syndications. “We are looking at the future of roadshows, and TD Securities is determined to be at the front of the pack when it comes to offering our clients innovative, workable solutions.”
