TD Bank Financial Group and Starbucks Coffee Company are announcing that Starbucks will open a retail outlet in the TD Bank branch at Queen and Bay streets in downtown Toronto. TD Bank is the first major Canadian bank to bring a full-service retailer into one of its branches. Starbucks is expected to open on July 24.

“We believe this arrangement with Starbucks will make banking more comfortable and convenient for our customers — we see it as a unique enhancement to the traditional branch banking experience,” says Marianne Taggio, vice president, in-store banking, TD Canada Trust. “Banking is changing, and our customers’ needs are changing. We want to lead the industry in exceeding our customers’ expectations and will continue to look for opportunities like this that enhance the customer experience.”

“Starbucks is excited to be part of this unique first in Canadian banking,” says Andy Rattner, regional vice president, Starbucks Coffee Company, Eastern Canada. “We see this as an example of how we can offer the Starbucks Experience with strategic retail arrangements across the country. TD’s retail concept provides customers with an opportunity to enjoy Starbucks and take care of daily banking needs in one comfortable, relaxed, friendly location.”

As part of the opening celebrations Starbucks will donate a portion of opening day coffee sales to the Moss Park Community Kitchen. TD will make a matching contribution to the Children’s Miracle Network.
