The IDA is seeking tax help from Ottawa for Canada’s junior markets. Joe Oliver, president and CEO of the Investment Dealers Association’s, is set to appear before the House of Commons Finance Committee to present the IDA’s annual pre-budget submission.

A press release form the IDA says that Oliver will outline measures to promote public participation in Canadian junior public markets through targeted tax relief on initial public and treasury offerings of shares in small, publicly listed companies and to encourage institutional investor participation in venture capital
investments.

Oliver is also slated to offer recommendations regarding the capital gains tax rollover provision, current RRSP annual contribution limits and the issue of a national solution to harmonizing securities regulation in Canada.
