(July 25 – 13:55 ET) – Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada has expanded its product distribution alliance with Freedom 55 Financial, a division of London Life, and The Great-West Life Assurance Co.

Under the alliance, Freedom 55 Financial and Great-West advisors will gain immediate access to Sun Life’s term and T100 life insurance products. In 2001, Freedom 55 Financial advisors will also be able to offer Sun Life’s guaranteed interest accounts and payout annuities.

The new intiative builds on the successful year-long alliance between the three companies. Freedom 55 Financial and Great-West already have access to Sun Life’s universal life product, while Sun Life has access to Great-West’s disability insurance and small group employee benefits products.

“Sun Life is at the forefront of these types of alliances, with agreements with a number of financial services companies,” says Marcel Gingras, executive vice president, Canadian operations, Sun Life Financial. “This latest initiative, while offering new growth opportunities for us and for Freedom 55 Financial and Great-West, is of particular benefit to consumers, who now have access to more leading-edge products through their advisors.”

“Consumers are increasingly looking for a broader range of financial security products and services through a single financial security advisor,” says Raymond L. McFeetors, president and CEO, Great-West and London Life. “This expanded alliance enables us to better meet our clients’ needs.”
