(November 14 – 12:10 ET) – Standard Life says it will create approximately 240 new jobs over the next three years and invest more than $16 million to renovate one of its downtown Montreal office buildings.
“We are delighted to announce this investment in Montreal,” said Claude Garcia, president of Standard Life’s Canadian operations. “Standard Life has grown remarkably over the past few years. To support this growth rate, we will create 240 new jobs in the next three years.”
Standard Life says its revenue more than doubled between 1996 and 2000. Going forward, the insurance company forecasts a growth rate of 15% a year for each of the next three years.
From 1996 to 2000, the total number of jobs at the Canadian operations increased by 25% to 1,552. Quebec accounts for 1,232 of these jobs. Virtually all of the 240 jobs created are in Quebec as well.
To accommodate the new employees, Standard Life will renovate its downtown Montreal building at 2045 Stanley Street. The company plans to renovate the façade, window and door arrangement and indoor layouts.
