(August 18 – 12:15 ET) – Sheridan Securities Inc. of Brockville, Ontario has joined the Investment Dealers Association.
The firm was founded by Jim Sheridan and Mary Bates, both formerly of BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. Before starting their own shop, Sheridan was a vice president in Nesbitt’s Private Client Division. Prior to Nesbitt and a risk analyst for the Union Bank of Switzerland in Toronto and New York. He also did stints at CIBC and as a pro option trader for the Amsterdam Options Traders in Montreal, Toronto and Amsterdam.
Bates was an investment advisor Nesbitt. Before that she was with National Trust and CIBC Trust in Toronto.
Sheridan Securities is clearing through National Bank Financial’s Correspondent Network. It is looking to add experienced advisors in its Brockville office and elsewhere in Ontario. It promises equity ownership in the firm, a competitive commission pay-out and “state-of-the-art
technology and research”.
