More than 300 people will be taking pledges at Scotiabank’s Toronto Call Centre for this year’s Sick Kids Miracle Weekend on June 2nd and 3rd.

This is the third year that Scotiabank has donated the use of its call centre, and is expecting to handle more than 7,000 calls during the 24 hour event.

“Scotiabank provides us with the infrastructure we need to process the thousands of pledges we receive — it’s a big part of what makes the event such a success,” said Sharon Jones, senior development officer, community events, Hospital For Sick Children. “Most importantly, volunteers from thebBank give up part of their weekend to operate the phones and process the donations. Both the Scotiabank volunteers and our own Sick Kids volunteers should take pride in their valuable contribution to the Sick Kids Miracle Weekend.”

“It’s great to use the resources we have at our Toronto call centre for such a good cause,” said Mike Hayes, senior vice-president, Electronic Banking Call Centres, Scotiabank.

The donation of the call centre facilities for the weekend is valued at $60,000. In addition, Scotiabank is sponsoring closed captioning for this year’s Miracle Weekend.
