(May 4 – 09:40 ET) – Scotiabank is launching the Scotia Alert wireless service. The service offers business customers the ability to track activities in their commercial accounts using any Internet enabled wireless device.

“Scotia Alert will take wireless to the next level by offering Canadian businesspeople the convenience of receiving real time, customized alerts on activities in their commercial account anytime, anywhere,” said Albert Wahbe, chairman and CEO of e-Scotia and Scotiabank’s executive vice-president, Electronic Banking. “This new service offers business customers the flexibility to decide what they want to receive alerts on — they can set up alerts for any debit or credit activity in any commercial account.”

The service is being launched with a pilot starting in Ontario. It will transmit information using short messaging service — an advanced technology that enables business customers to pinpoint when and why they receive credit and debit alerts.

“Scotia Alert will offer businesspeople the competitive edge of finding out in real time when significant transactions have been completed in their commercial accounts,” sad Wahbe.
