(June 9 – 12:20 ET) A Chinese delegation of 15 archivists from central government agencies and banks is touring Scotiabank Group and City of Toronto Archives today to learn about Canadian experiences and practices in records management and archives administration.

“The Scotiabank Group Archives is the oldest in the Canadian banking industry,” said Jane Nokes, Corporate Archivist, Scotiabank Group. “We are honoured to be the first Canadian bank to be visited by a Chinese archivist delegation and we look forward to sharing experiences and best practices.”

The Scotiabank Group Archives is used by Scotiabank departments, clients, historians, graduate students, film makers and collectors, among many others. “A&E’s Biography program and the Road to Avonlea series are two of the television productions that have consulted us,” said Nokes.

Scotiabank began collecting records informally to publish a company history in 1900. Today, the Scotiabank Group Archives is recognize internationally as a leading business archives.
