(October 17 – 11:45 ET) – Charles Schwab Canada is launching a Chinese online news service called “Zhongwen e-Xun”. The service provides Schwab clients with research and information in Chinese on the U.S. markets. The brokerage firm says the online service complements its other Chinese language capabilities such as Asian branches, Chinese call centre, and Chinese Web trading.

Canadian Chinese-speaking investors can now keep pace with the latest market movements and analysis just by clicking into the company’s Web site www.schwabcanada.com. Schwab says the Chinese content is maintained and updated by the Dow Jones China bureau throughout the day. The comprehensive service offers selected real-time market updates, summaries, news analysis, and headlines via Dow Jones Newswires. Company profiles, market data, earnings estimates, and analysts’ stock upgrades/downgrades are also available online.

Schwab is also opening an Asia Pacific Services branch office in Richmond, B.C. “Investors of Asian heritage, particularly Chinese, represent a fast growing segment of Schwab Canada’s business. Richmond has a high concentration of the Chinese population and is a focal point for Chinese from other areas in Vancouver. This is a strategically convenient location for our existing and future clients,” said Philip Lam, manager of Asia Pacific Services, Charles Schwab Canada.
