The Saskatchewan Securities Commission is sticking to its plan to adopt a permanent registration system by December 2001, even though other jurisdictions are delaying the initiative.
In an SSC staff notice today, the commission noted that, “Several provinces have decided to postpone the adoption of [the rule] and the implementation of a permanent registration system until late 2002. However, the Saskatchewan Securities Commission will adopt a permanent registration system by December 2001 as we have previously indicated to our registrants.”
While nationwide implementation will have to wait, the SSC will adopt a local instrument to introduce permanent registration by this coming December. All registrants will be required to pay an annual registration fee and deliver certain information to the regulator on December 15 of each year.
