(May 30 – 17:30 ET) – Royal Trust Global Securities Services has announced a joint venture with leading financial service technology provider Bottomline Technologies of Portsmouth, New Hampshire to deliver securities services to clients on the Web.

Using BankQuest, Bottomline’s state-of-the-art electronic banking platform, Royal Trust will develop customized Web-based custody and related product applications, to be launched this fall under its own ViewFinder brand. The platform will be the foundation for delivering online access to institutional investors.

“With Bottomline, we have developed a business-to-business technology solution specially tailored for custody clients,” says José Placido, senior vice president, Royal Trust Global Securities Services. “ViewFinder will become the Internet portal to our services.”

ViewFinder will house global market information, performance measurement, client access and trade processing capability. Additional functionality, including securities lending, investment analytics, derivatives reporting and corporate actions, is in the works for roll-out throughout 2001.

“This alliance with Bottomline is consistent with the eBusiness product development strategy employed within Royal Bank Financial Group,” says Marty Lippert, vice chairman and CIO, Royal Bank.
