(October 22 – 11:55 ET) –
Royal Bank launched
Alberta’s first “talking”
bank machines today in Edmonton and
Calgary.
The audio adaptation to a
standard bank machine provides
an opportunity for blind or
visually impaired customers to
do their own banking in private —
some for the first time.
Royal Bank has installed
audio machines in a central
location in more than 12 major
cities across Canada, most
recently in Edmonton and Calgary.
Royal Bank worked closely
with customers, consumer
organizations, NCR Canada and
T-Base Research and Development
Inc. on the design of the
full-service Audio Banking
Machine. It can be used for
withdrawals, deposits, transfers,
bill payments, balance
information, Visa cash advances,
mini-statements for chequing,
savings and Visa, and line of
credit and loan access.
